Our school is an Exceptional Student Education Center dedicated to providing therapeutic, behavioral and academic support to our students. We are a kindergarten through age twenty-two school serving multicultural students from low to middle socio-economic status. Many of our students are foster kids living in therapeutic group homes. Our students are fun loving, hard working and vulnerable. They seek to normalize their lives by learning the skills to navigate the community and become career ready. Anthony is one of the students in my CBI class. His dream job is to work for the circus as a clown. This desire is ingrained in every aspect of his being and we seek out enrichment opportunities for these skills to be integrated. He learns communication/interviewing skills, how to take care of his property (ie: bicycles) and reading/writing. While Anthony's goal is not typical, many important skills can be addressed via his interests. I employ interest based learning everyday!
