My students have a limited world view. The novels in this project will allow them to broaden their understanding of the world and cultures unlike their own. The novels would be used both in whole group and individual reading. Whole group instruction will focus on the Nevada Academic Content Standards RL 3.1-10. We will dive into character studies, explore and compare our points of view, ask and answer questions through meaningful, guided discourse. After reading, students will use the novels as springboards to further their exploration of cultures and geography. Several of the books in this project have sequels or are the first in a series. It is my hope that these novels will spark an interest in further reading.
