Most of my third graders begin the year with me far below expected reading level for third grade. The majority of my students speak English as a second language, so they are still processing the English language but expected to read at the same level as a student that has spoken English their whole life. My students need books that will be high interest for them and that are on their level of reading. The leveled books and I Can Read sets can meet their individual needs. My students always write about what they read; therefore, a durable pencil sharpener will help us get through the year. As I differentiate my math groups, I have always created games to make it fun. The math folder games will allow for colorful, engaging, and Common Core appropriate practice that students will enjoy using rather than a workbook.
