My school is a Title I school in a neighborhood where over 70% of the student body receives free and reduced lunch. My students are very sweet and eager to learn, but lack the resources and support at home to be successful. Their reading levels are so far below grade level, some 7th graders have a pre k reading level. The excitement of a Kindle digital reader would help them to get excited about reading and new technology could keep their interest. They would be able to read books online from all different genres on their individual reading levels. This would be a huge help for them in preparation for the ELA examination in April 2016. My students need motivation to stay focused in school, when everything outside school is not focused on education as first priority.
