I am requesting a carpet, comfy pillows and beanbag chairs to sit on and read a book. Having a place to read and share books will help encourage the students to use the reading area. As of today, the students have a small borrowed dirty carpet and some stuffed animals to read with. A new carpet with pillows and bean bags will give the area a welcoming feel. The carpet are will be used for students to collaborate on projects, peer read, whole group instruction and a quiet place when they need to be alone. A reading area with a carpet, bean bags and pillows will give my students a place to read and let their imaginations sore. The students will finally be able to sit together for large group instruction too. Right now, the students do not fit on the carpet area and so we must conduct all learning at their desks. Getting up to move and change areas of learning will help students who need to move and can not sit still all day.
