I have a student in the 10th grade who, when he first entered my class, could barely sit still long enough to really internalize the material. He really wanted to learn, and he had a great deal of raw potential, but he simply didn't know what to do with it. Many of the students in my school are much the same way: a lot of intelligence without really knowing how to channel it. They all desperately want to learn, to achieve, and to do well in school. However, living out in rural North Carolina, finding the funding for necessary equipment and resources is near impossible since there are so many other needs and students to care for.
