Availability of multiple "seating" options, such as weighted balance balls and standing desks, would allow my students the movement many of them require to stay focused, without distracting their classmates or instruction. Balance balls keep core muscles engaged and have been shown to improve focus and productivity in students with ADHD. Staining desks have been shown to increase the heart rate, leaving students more alert, and ready for active learning. Both would go help my students to acquire the reading and math skill necessary for them to be successful. Many of my students also struggle with the frustration that comes with needing to move, while feeling that they are constantly disrupting their peers. These seating options would help as I attempt to relieve some of this frustration.
