For the past 13 years, I have taught at a Title 1 school with a diverse student population. This diversity extends across cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Many of my students are English Language Learners. In addition, many of them have not had the opportunity to attend high quality preschools. As instructional technology has evolved, the iPad has emerged as a potential bridge to reaching young students with significant learning barriers. Learning theory supports the concept that young children entering grade school require tactile, visual, and auditory experiences. The use of an iPad tablet allows children to incorporate these three primary learning modalities as they learn basic skills and subjects.
