I am a special education teacher for 12 students between the ages of 14-20 with intellectual and multiple disabilities in a low income school in Queens. All of my students need visual and auditory supports throughout the day. They are eager to learn and try new things all the time. My students are a fantastic group of individuals who are extremely supportive of each other in and out of the classroom and love to help others. They are always excited to learn new things and love participating in all classroom activities. They are a fun loving bunch of students who try their best and are extremely hard working individuals. My school focuses on providing relevant instruction to the diversified community of learners. Effective communication skills are a core piece of what is emphasized and taught both in and out of the classroom.
