Many of my students have physical disabilities that impact their ability to participate in circle time. The cube chairs can be used in 3 ways so that each student can be part of the group and participate. These students also frequently have sensory processing disorders, such as Autism, which can make them in need of sensory experiences in the classroom. The chosen sensory items would help to sooth or stimulate the child as needed to access and benefit from the environment and instruction. When a child is upset, sensory items can comfort and help the child feel safe and secure, which is imperative to success.
