Have you ever noticed how 6-year olds have the amazing ability to discover incredible, new things about the world and then forget them two minutes later??? I teach 1st grade. My students are my world. They are a very diverse bunch coming from Mexico, Columbia, Vietnam, China, The Sudan, and I just got a new student who is a Burmese refugee (brand-new to the country). It is a high-poverty school (one of my students is currently homeless), but we tend to outperform other similar school. And, we have high expectations for our students to achieve their dreams in this world.
