My students are second grade struggling readers in a school with an 85% poverty rate. Most of my students do not have books or computer resources outside of the classroom. They are attention seeking individuals who need excessive one-on-one interventions to gain reading fluency and comprehension. These boys and girls are placed on reading improvement plans at the beginning of the school year, which provides them with small group reading interventions throughout the school year. These intensive interventions are designed to help students achieve grade level expectations in reading literacy by the end of the school year.
