The emotional/behavioral disabilities class at our school has previously been characterized by inconsistent staffing, low expectations, and low academic achievement. I believe with high expectations and appropriate supports, high achievement is guaranteed. So far my students have shown great potential to achieve academically and behaviorally. With structures in place that I have provided for their safety and encourage active learning, they will be able to achieve greatness. All of my students face many challenges such as being emotionally impaired. Many come from low-income backgrounds, some are English Language Learners,suffered traumatic events. These precipitating factors make school more difficult for them. I believe that all students are able to succeed when given the right tools.
