As a special education teacher, I teach a diverse group of students from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Sadly, many of them do not have adequate access to food and water, and come to school hungry and thirsty. Though our school has water fountains, leaving the classroom to get a drink can cause disruptions. Having a supply of snacks and water will help my students stay focused and be as physically and mentally prepared as possible to tackle the challenges of middle school. A full belly will help them fill their brain!
