My resource students are K-8th grade who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing and ALSO have a secondary disability such as: autism, ADHD, cognitive, vision, health limitations, motor, etc, that impacts their ability to complete assignments at grade level in class. In our school, we communicate in American Sign Language (ASL). My students love coming to a school where they can communicate freely with each other. Deaf and Hard of Hearing children need to build a strong foundation in ASL and written English to be successful academically. My day centers around language acquisition while communicating, doing hands-on activities, reading, writing English, and Math.
