I teach at a school for recent immigrants. There are students from over 30 countries at the school. Many of them have faced great hardship to come to the United States. Many of the students are refugees, unaccompanied minors, and undocumented youths. The students are not only learning English, but they are also having to master the different content necessary to graduate high school. The school itself is a small public school that focuses on the full service community model of schools and looks to help the students meet not only their academic needs, but their social emotional needs. We work hard alongside students and families to leverage resources from the community, that include medical and legal needs.
