Throughout the day, I teach 44 5th graders. They are all talented and special, and we speak often about how everyone learns in different ways and at different rates. We don't focus on scores, but instead on personal growth and we reflect on our mistakes to turn them into learning opportunities. The students are empowered to take charge of their own learning in every way possible. I encourage my students to be curious (the motto in their science class this year is "untame your imagination"), but with only one computer in the classroom, it makes it difficult for students to follow-up on their "wonderings" while in school. Our school is home to over 500 4th and 5th graders who all have to share two computer labs, each with about 30 computers.
