My third graders come from a small city with a very tight knit community. They all come to me with different backgrounds and experiences with reading. I read aloud to them, sometimes up to three and four times a day, from all genres. I get them excited about stories, so excited they can't wait to find their own. They write down titles to books and authors we talk about, waiting for the time to go to the school library to find their own stories to get lost in. They ask me where I got certain books so they can ask their parents to get the books for them. They are all very eager and thrilled to learn from a variety of books that our school can offer them.
