My students will be able to compare a modern-day version of a Shakespearean classic to the classic (Romeo and Juliet). I want the students to be able to envision the main characters in the classic as someone they can relate to. I also want them to be able to compare and contrast literary devices across the two titles. The parallels between the classic and modern versions will be the emphasis when teaching this novel. The students will also use the novel to effectively cite contextual evidence and properly use citations.
