I teach a diverse classroom of second grade students in the lower Rio Grande Valley. My classroom is compiled of English language learners and Gifted and Talented Students! This combination is both difficult and extremely rewarding. I am learning this year that my students enjoy creating and assessing their own abilities. They love to go on "scientific investigations" and are all about competing towards reaching higher Accelerated Reader goals! Our schools demographic pattern consists of low income and mostly Hispanic students which sets them to be "At Risk" learners. Despite their backgrounds and challenges, parents, students, and teachers are placing their highest efforts in achieving the demanding standards of education set forth by our district. I am truly blessed to have such enthusiast learners.
