Absolutely outstanding! That is how I would describe my students. Between overcoming obstacles both inside and out of school, they are faced with situations some will only see on television. My students live in an urban environment which is surrounded by drug and gun violence on a daily basis. These children are witness to crime and other violent acts that at times pull them in to make the wrong decisions. They are hard working, dedicated, and extremely strong young individuals who have the opportunity to empower themselves and overcome the life they have been dealt. My students bring their problems with them to school each day. As a result, I am more than just their teacher. I am their pair of ears to listen and their voice when they have found theirs to be lost.
