As a special education teacher of upper elementary kids, I can sometimes get resistance when I pull kids to my room. They are starting to notice that they are different and would rather neglect the help I can give them in order to fit in. My hope is to create a classroom where my students' peers are asking to go to my room with my students! I want my students to accept my help and want to work their hardest to overcome the deficits while I get to encourage their strengths! I think once the barrier of fear from being different is broken down, we will be able to work harder than ever before and grow past expectations!
