How to Hide an Empire takes a broader view of American History and takes many of the people and events which we learn about in American History and meshes them into a flowing and intriguing story. This book will cause the students to ask questions and think about the role of the United States in the world and develop critical thinking skills. This book presents a myriad of fun stories that impress upon the reader the importance and impact of decisions in the past. How to Hide an Empire will allow my students to merge American History into a cohesive whole and view the impact of American History on their world today. I believe that this book will engage students who may not regularly be interested in history because of the eclectic stories that it tells. It will also be a great way to weave literacy into my history curriculum and benefit students by learning to read a scholarly text.
