It's such a pleasure to have you visit my page. Currently, I teach 6th grade at a multi-culturally diverse K-8 school. With the addition of the upper grades on campus, school monies have been designated for purchasing new grade level books and supplies for 7th and 8th grade. Thus, there isn't money left over to purchase STEM supplies for lower grades. Without necessary Science supplies, science learning stations and/or labs are not possible. STEM learning for students in lower grades is minimalized by the inability to participate in hands-on learning activities. I'd really like to have Science Stations set up in the form of rock mineral samples with magnifying glasses, butterfly gardens and science journals, geraniums with turtles, and simple science experiment at a lab table to enhance discovery learning in STEM.
