I teach 2nd grade in a growing school corporation. We are no longer having field trips funded due to the depressed economy. The schools were forced to make budget cuts, and our state governor has flat lined our budget for the next three years. In other words, we will not be receiving any more money than we did this year. In a growing school corporation that thrives on the student success, this has hurt us and has caused us to create cuts in areas we wouldn't have imagined. Students need to have the experiences out of school on field trips to expand their learning and thinking skills. By cutting these budgets, we no longer have that opportunity.
