Our elementary school is a neighborhood, community school with nearly one-third of the population within walking distance to the school. It has approximately 400 students in grades pre-k to sixth grade. There is a diverse population, as there are a significant amount of students from the military as well as from the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. 65% of students are Caucasian, while 35% of are minorities. It is a title one school with nearly ¼ of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Our first grade has 22 fabulous first graders of differing academic abilities, and socio-economic backgrounds. The students are eager to learn at this young age. Each day I strive to make learning fun and exciting. It is my goal to have all 22 of my students develop a love of learning. My students are highly engaged anytime we use technology in the classroom.
