My students are an amazing group of economically disadvantaged 3rd and 4th grade students. With this population, these students are unfortunately at-risk to high crime, poverty, homelessness, unemployment, poor health, poor fitness and poor nutrition, patiently awaiting for them outside of the school gates. Building knowledge of healthy social, emotional behaviors and resiliency strengthens student assets and increase coping skills. Unfortunately, the majority of my students come from homes of chaos and disorganization with very little if any rules and or routines. The children want to be better, but they sometimes start out behind, and their possibilities of catching up seem dismal to most, but NOT to ME! Technology and Science has the power to teach, motivate, captivate and transform a classroom into a training ground for the next generation of artists, entrepreneurs and leaders.
