Our school is located in a community where the poverty level is high, with 87% - 90% of the families qualifying for federal assistance programs. Families struggle with providing basic necessities and therefore cannot afford additional costs. Our students have multiple barriers, including single parent homes, living with grandparents and/or foster parents. Additionally, we serve students of homeless families. Even though the businesses, which are primarily small businesses, and community agencies support education, resources to secure new instruments are limited.
