A listening center in my second grade class will enable my students to work independently on reading fluency and comprehension skills. I would use the listening center during literacy centers. While a group of students are at listening center, I will be able to work in a small group setting with other students. Listen to reading is usually the favorite during center time! :) Listening to books allows students to listen for fluency and expression, helps with comprehension, and builds vocabulary. Listening to engaging books creates students who love reading! The Listening Center will be a great resource for my ELL students. Listening to books will help them to improve their understanding of English in a low risk environment.
