Increasing literacy rates help students succeed in all aspects of academia. Practice improves proficiency. Many of our students, unfortunately, read very little--especially non-fiction books. They are also unfamiliar with the workings of zoos. Through this project, my Zoology II class will be able to incorporate literacy (particularly science literacy) into the science classroom and apply what they learned to zoology. Several differentiated assignments will be given to the Zoology II classes to complete using this book. Due to the economic situation of most of our students, they would not be able to purchase this book for themselves. This project will put each of my students on an even playing field by giving them the materials they need to succeed!
