Many of my students have difficulty remaining focused and attentive for long periods of time. This is often due to medical diagnoses, but more often is due to the fact that sometimes learning is just very challenging for them. When things get tough, students are typically more off task, which includes moving around. Having flexible seating is proven to help with getting rid of some of those distractions! Students are more successful when they are allowed to move around as they are working. Allowing my students to make choices with their seating, as well as to allow movement while working, encourages student success and student growth in the classroom.
