My students are primarily English Language Learners living in a low income neighborhood in East San Jose. 100% of students receive free and reduced lunch. Our school works relentlessly to give them all the skills and resources necessary to be ready for college and careers, so they can be successful in a competitive environment such as the Silicon Valley. Our students are motivated, ready to learn and have big dreams of becoming engineers, doctors, psychologists, teachers, and police officers. About 80 out of 90 incoming 6th graders are currently attending orientation this week and they are asking important questions about how to be successful. The focus of our school is on social justice and we believe that students should leave with a desire and commitment to make the world a better place. In order to reach this goal, we create an awareness of social injustices and educate and empower students to do something positive.
