Pre-K classrooms are centered around hands on activities and purposeful play. In order to keep students engaged, we always need materials that appeal to all sensory needs. A light table and manipulative pieces can help facilitate that purposeful play in a variety of ways. X-rays and detailed slides can be used in dramatic play in a doctor's, veterinarian's or scientist's lab. Tracing slides and sorting trays can be used to provide an alternative for students who need a variety of materials to help keep them interested and engaged while also incorporating movement and providing a quiet solo space to work.
