Our small space houses 30 energetic and creative 1st grade students from all over the world. The classroom is made up of seven different countries. We have equal numbers of boys and girls. Room 0 is friendly, vocal and artistic. My students love to create, draw, paint and perform. We are constantly harnessing our energy into academic and artistic projects that allow for students learn and grow. The 15 boys in my classroom love building projects with paper and tying what we have learned about science into their structures. They frequently are making parachutes and kites. My 15 girls enjoy drawing and coloring different characters from stories we have read like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Tacky the Penguin". Our school is brand new and multicultural in Southern California. Since our school is brand new we have the basics purchased, but we are still acquiring extra materials like art supplies to enhance student learning.
