My school district has put a major focus on cooperative learning this year. We are embracing the Kagan philosophy and I have set up my classroom with that in mind. The main focus of cooperative learning is student led instruction. iPads would give the students another outlet to apply the content I am teaching. Giving my students iPads to use in the music classroom will give them an outlet to apply the knowledge they have learned in class in a way that they are very comfortable with. Students use iPads, smartphones, and computers daily. Adding music apps to their knowledge base will help them learn what I am teaching AND make music fun. I would also use the iPads for fourth and fifth grade classes for composition projects. Garage Band is a great composition program created by Apple that helps students can create a very professional sounding composition.
