Our school is located in Camden, NJ, which has been described by the media variously as the "poorest city in the US" and/or "the most dangerous city in America." 96% of our students are classed as economically disadvantaged; 16% have special needs. At Sharp, our students are not limited by their circumstances. In spite of these and other challenges, Sharp consistently outperforms the rest of the district elementary schools; most recently, testing showed that 62% of Sharp students were proficient in Mathematics compared to 30% for the district overall.
