My students have been very interested in learning to play the ukulele. I play my ukulele with them in every music class. They love singing, but they love singing along with the ukulele even more! Playing for them has provided many musically teachable moments (i.e., How does it make a sound? What happens when you turn those pegs? Why is it not a guitar?). I love their questions and their interest. I'd love to see them continue to grow as musicians by learning to play the ukulele! The Geer Park Dolphins are excited to learn the ukulele on Kala Dolphin Ukes! I'm excited to use these instruments with my students to support our singing, teach harmony, and promote independent musicianship. This project will get my students started learning the ukulele in small groups.
