The children at our school range from prekindergarten to fifth grade. We have about 450 boys and girls that come from a variety of economic levels as well as them having many cultural backgrounds. About eighty percent of our students qualify for the federal government's free or reduced lunch program. Our school also struggles with funding because it is considered a small school within our city and school district. Our school is a community school that is established within its neighborhood. It is surrounded by homes in a suburban setting. Our teachers, parents, and students take pride in describing our school as a local community. We do not have a local park nearby, so our school serves an important role when it comes to physical activity for the children it serves.
