Middle school students are a lot of fun to teach! This age group needs choices and I feel allowing them the option to work and collaborate together will help many of my students learn better. We do a lot of collaborative projects in my class that require interaction with peers. The current style of desk in my classroom does not promote peer interaction. If the students are able to work together in teams, this will encourage more discussions amongst the groups and more collaboration; which in turn increases higher level thinking. It will also give me the opportunity to create flexible groups which helps differentiate learning.
