My school is in an impoverished part of a rural community. Over 60 percent of our student population receive free or reduced lunch. Most students do not have access to the Internet or other technology at home. I teach an inclusion class with students with a variety of learning disabilities from autism to dyslexia. The students want to do their best and work hard to meet our expectations. They like being read to and enjoy interesting stories. Many of the students only have access to books and other resources at school. They are often not read to at home which directly impacts their reading skills.
