A personalized library, handpicked by students' English teacher, meets the needs aligned with what 9th grade PA standards require. While many may ask, "Doesn't a librarian know the needs and interests of all students in a high school?" I would argue differently. Multiple students will use these texts during 30-minute chunks of silent sustained reading, three times a week at the least. With this collection of books, I can more closely meet the interest level and skill level needs of each student, and help individualize the book selection process to help all students; I work most closely with my students, and know what each needs.
