Kromrey Middle School is a new building, housing over 1000 students in grades 5th through 8th. We are located in south-central Wisconsin in the town of Middleton. Our population is around 18,000. We are a suburb of Madison. Our library, learning commons as we call it, is open to all students during their free time which is recess (20 minutes) and Extended Learning Time (20 minutes) each day. My students have shown that they can handle collaborative long term projects. When I had puzzles on tables for anyone to work on, my students and staff were excited and enthusiastic. I was so impressed at how they worked together and encouraged one another. I also put checkers and chess out. Students were very inclusive in their game playing. They created a positive attitude towards one another.
