Our 1st/2nd combo class is constantly switching work areas from whole group to small groups based on grade, content and/or ability. To help facilitate students working successfully in a variety of spaces and groupings, we need Smart Seat options. In our class a Smart Seat is a student picked spot where they can do their best! Having a 1st/2nd combo, we have no choice but to be flexible - I believe that having the ability to work on a balance ball, wobble cushion or on the floor with a lap desk and stadium seat will allow my students the flexibility they need to take ownership of their learning.
