In a world where there is a lot of division, students need to know that there are people and events that have changed lives for the better. It is important for my students to be exposed to these people like Malala Yousafzai, Nelson Mandela, or Helen Keller. People who not only made a difference, but can be seen as positive role models. By reading "The Who Was/Is" series, students will be able to learn about people in the past that didn't try to divide others, but unite them in a positive way and change the world. In addition, by reading The Scholastic Action Magazine, students can read and learn about current events so that they can decide for themselves how THEY want to change and impact the world.
