My students are motivated to learn and achieve in their science and technology educations, but lack the resources that many other students have. They come from mainly poor and uneducated households, but want to go to college and achieve. My school, Math and Science College Prep, emphasizes deep and thorough knowledge for all students in preparation for higher education. Students are engaged to learn not only facts and figures, but also problem solving, deductive reasoning, and inductive reasoning. Students are expected to be able to create complex projects and connections based on their deep mastery of the learning material. They do this in a collaborative and supportive environment.
