In a safe and kid-friendly way, these books will give my students the information they need to face the issues that we are facing as citizens of the world– race relations in the U.S., terrorist attacks in our homeland and other countries, etc. Before we can talk about it, kids need the perspective of books that teach kids about experiences outside of the U.S.   Through a diverse library of books, my class will read stories set in different parts of the U.S., South America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. These books can teach kids empathy and kindness, and show them a world they may not be familiar with.
