I teach 9-12 grade science. my course assignments for this school year include biology, physical science, and anatomy/physiology. The school in which I teach is in a very high needs community where most students receive free or reduced lunch. Most of the safety equipment we currently have is old and falling apart, most of our goggles do not have straps and are dry-rooted. Our school does not have the money to replace these materials and we have been asked to purchase them on our own. This year, budget cuts have hurts us tremendously. We can no longer use substitutes and are responsible for covering our colleagues classes when they are absent. Also, we have been put on a 2.5 day furlough in order to save money for the district.
