Do you remember being in school and having to sit in those hard plastic chairs all day, every day. I want to give my students a choice. When students are uncomfortable, they are distracted and unproductive. With flexible seating students will be able find comfortable positions through my classroom, which will help them to be more relaxed and focused. Flexible seating also provides sensory stimulation (touch) for the students who need it help them focus, I have a few students who will greatly benefit from this. Not only does flexible seating allow for better learning environment, it also allows students to see themselves as human beings and not just cogs in a machine. The freedom of choice is imperative, it gives ownership to your actions. Not every student works well sitting at a desk and being able to find a way that help them learn and become more engaged with their learning is amazing!
