My students are wonderful students, who did not have a teacher last year for there first experience in school. So they are students who have a o of gaps in their learning. I have a mixed class of 28 students who are 1st and 2nd graders. Out of the 28 students 7 of them can read at a 2nd or 3rd grade level. I work in the heart of Roseland in Chicago, which composes of 99 percent free lunch. My students have many challenges at home. So my classroom has to be the safe zone where, its okay to make mistakes, take challenges and support one another.
