Every Day my students meet together for "Rug Time" (or class meeting) except, we don't have a rug. We use rug time to discuss social studies, learn scientific concepts, make predictions, read our weekly stories, and learn how to properly participate in discussions. Being together on the floor with my students engages them in a way I rarely see when we are seated at our desks. A rug to define our space would help tremendously with fidgety second graders, who really need a structured space. My students love rug time and frequently ask if it is time for Class Meeting yet! We are learning, exploring, discovering. Thanks for the help!
